Bilawal Bhutto Unveils PPP’s Vision in Multan Rally

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari asserted that PML-N leaders refrained from engaging in electioneering, presuming they had the match fixed. He declared that the PPP and its allies would collectively pursue the ‘Lion’ with the ‘Arrow’. Bhutto-Zardari labeled his political adversaries as Raiwind dwellers, accusing them of staying indoors and expecting victory effortlessly. He conveyed to the masses that supporting the PPP was crucial to preventing Nawaz Sharif and his associates from plundering the country.

Addressing a massive public gathering at Technology College ground in Multan, Bhutto-Zardari expressed gratitude to the people for their overwhelming support, promising a fresh start from Feb 8. He criticized traditional political leaders for fostering division and hatred for personal gains and vowed to unite the country while addressing public issues such as the economic and security situation. He lambasted other political parties for their indifference to the country’s problems and their sole focus on gaining power.

The PPP chairman pledged to directly engage with the people by visiting KP and Balochistan. Criticizing the PML-N for not announcing its manifesto, he suggested that the PML-N leaders were uncertain about their plans after assuming power. Accusing the PML-N leaders of attempting to copy the PPP’s manifesto in their speeches, particularly the promise of free 300 units of electricity, he highlighted his election strategy based on a 10-point economic charter, avoiding resorting to ‘revenge, violence, or hate’.

Comprehensive Welfare Initiatives and Economic Reforms Proposed by Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari

Outlining his plans, Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari proposed devolving 17 federal ministries to save Rs300 billion for allocation to welfare projects. He also mentioned redirecting Rs1,500 billion annually given to the privileged class through subsidies to farmers, laborers, and students. Initiatives announced included increasing wages, providing 300 units of free electricity through solar power, and constructing three million houses nationwide with ownership given to women of the households.

Addressing the women of the area, the PPP leader pledged to expand the Benazir Income Support Programme and provide interest-free loans for financial independence. For farmers and laborers in south Punjab, he reiterated promises of ‘Benazir Kissan Card’ and ‘Benazir Mazdoor Card’ to provide crop insurance and financial assistance to small farmers and social security to laborers. He also announced the initiation of a Youth Card to tackle unemployment and equip youth with necessary skills, along with financial assistance.

Bhutto-Zardari emphasized that he is contesting elections from Lahore and highlighted issues of poverty, unemployment, and infrastructure in the city. The PPP aims to represent the entire country and address its problems without discrimination, he said. He underscored his desire to serve the people rather than being anyone’s favorite, crediting Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto for making the country an atomic power and bringing missile technology.

Bhutto-Zardari asserted that President Zardari was the founder of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and criticized the PML-N for its initial opposition and subsequent claim to the project. He accused the PML-N of attempting to steal the internationally acclaimed Benazir Income Support Programme after initially criticizing it. He also credited Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto for initiating the Thar Coal Project and himself and President Zardari for implementing it, criticizing the PML-N for claiming it as its achievement.

As well as he promised the people of Multan that the chief minister of Punjab would be from south Punjab if given the opportunity, while he would serve the people as their prime minister. Former Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, Rana Mehmoodul Hassan, Abdul Qadir Gilani, Ali Musa Gilani, and other PPP ticket holders from Multan also addressed the gathering.
