Shehbaz Sharif Condemns Malicious Social Media Campaign

Lahore, Islamabad (Express Reporter, Special Correspondent, Agencies) – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has strongly denounced the social media campaign aimed at assassinating Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir, labeling it as vile, reprehensible, and malicious. He asserts that this campaign is the result of sinister planning by malevolent minds. The Prime Minister sends a clear message to those involved in plotting, facilitating, and orchestrating the May 9 incident that Pakistan will crush any conspiracy against its institutions. He emphasizes that similar considerations were made during the May 9 Black Day, and now conspiratorial elements are once again active, threatening political and economic stability in the country. The recent media campaign by these unscrupulous individuals against the martyrs is part of the same nefarious plan.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif directs the concerned institutions to take legal action against these media campaigners, both domestically and internationally. He firmly states that the campaign against the army and its chief is not protected by freedom of expression, but rather a conspiracy that must be forcefully halted. It is a legal obligation to thwart this heinous conspiracy, just as the nation successfully foiled the civil war conspiracy on May 9.

In a tweet, Shehbaz Sharif asserts that the people and political parties of Pakistan will thwart any conspiracy aimed at undermining the dignity, honor, and integrity of the armed forces. He accuses Imran Khan of engaging in a continuous, malicious, hateful, obstinate, and vengeful campaign against Army Chief General Asim Munir. Sharif argues that Khan’s attempts to use proxies to threaten the army chief with an assassination attack have been exposed and failed. The Prime Minister points out that after the failure of the planned attack on state symbols, it is evident that Khan is solely driven by the desire to regain power, oblivious to the fact that the time for threats, violence, and divisive politics has passed. Sharif suggests that Khan’s actions only expose his true intentions, which are centered around personal gain and power.

The Prime Minister expresses deep sorrow and grief over the incident in Jhelum where a building collapsed due to a gas cylinder explosion. He offers prayers for the deceased and hopes for the speedy recovery of the injured. Taking immediate notice of the fire incident at the Alipur Chatta oil refinery, Shehbaz Sharif directs prompt measures and investigation to ensure the safety of the people and refinery staff.
