Shehbaz Sharif, the President of PML-N, has committed to granting district status to Jampur and establishing information technology universities in Jampur and Rajanpur if his party assumes power following the February 8 election. During an election rally in Rajanpur on Monday, he asserted that when people were facing flooding in the river Indus, he stood with them as their “servant.”
Shehbaz reminded the public that during the last tenure of PML-N, local hospitals had an ample supply of medicines. Additionally, he pledged to launch a laptop scheme for students in the trans-Indus districts of Punjab.
Meanwhile, Dr. Hafeezur Rehman Khan Dreshak, the PML-N candidate for National Assembly constituency NA-188, addressed the absence of Sui gas in Rajanpur district. He promised that the party would provide necessary public utilities to the area, including a children’s hospital and a university.
Election Rally in Rajanpur: Candidates Gather, PTI Nominee Arrested for Alleged Violation of Section 144
Awais Leghari, the PML-N provincial secretary-general and former federal minister, presented the traditional Balochi cap to Shehbaz.
All candidates from six provincial and three National Assembly seats in Rajanpur district, including Sher Afgan, Sher Ali Gorchani, Parwaiz Gorchani, Riyaz Mazari, Dost Muhammed Mazari, and others, were present.
In a separate development, the police arrested the PTI nominee (independent candidate) from PP-288, Malik Iqbal Saqib advocate, on Monday. The arrest, which took place at Kalma Chowk in DG Khan city, was for an alleged violation of section 144. Saqib, who was also running the election campaign for PTI’s former federal minister Ms. Zartaj Gull in NA-185 in her absence, was detained along with PTI’s private secretary Mehmood Bhatti.
